Security with sense

Home sercurity systemsThese days, home security is sadly increasingly important. We all need to take measures to protect our homes against unwelcome intruders. Also, there is the security of the fabric of the building itself to consider – what happens if a pipe bursts or thre dishwasher malfunctions while you are away, flooding the house? – or a fire breaks out ?

Hometronic is not designed as an Intruder Alarm system, however it can be used alongside a purpose-designed alarm system to enhance its operation.

Even without using an alarm, you can improve the security of your house by using some of Hometronics’ innovative features.

For instance, if you control some, or all of the lights in the house using Hometronic, you can take advantage of the“Presence Simulation” mode; this “learns” your normal pattern of living, and “plays it back” by turning on and off lights at the right time. Couple this with control of the blinds or curtains, and the house really will look “lived in” when you are away.

Home Alarm Systems

Most Intruder Alarm systems can produce signals which can be wired in to Hometronic If so, we can arrange that when you set the alarm, or hit the “away” lifestyle button on the Honeywell Hometronic Manager, you can make just some, or all of the lights work in the “Presence Simulation” mode. If the alarm were to be triggered, all of the controlled lights could be brought “on”.

Protection against flooding when the house is unoccupied can be simply achieved; if no water is needed whilst the property is empty, the mains supply to the house can be shut off automatically when the “away” button is pressed, or on a timer.

If water is being consumed (e.g. by a washing machine during a short absence) a leak detector can be installed in the area most likely to be flooded, and this can trigger a series of events including water shut-off.

The gas supply can be similarly interrupted, on a timed basis, or if triggered by a fire or smoke detector, thus improving fire safety.
